Since 1976, SCCC has provided a number of varied programs to the local community and throughout Los Angeles County, primarily serving underrepresented low-income, homeless and/or re-entry Latino and African American individuals.
Currently, SCCC is a provider of services contracted by the Los Angeles County (LAC) Alcohol and Drug Program Administration (ADPA), and receives LAC Court referrals for Proposition 36 (drug treatment in lieu of incarceration), Outpatient Drug Free treatment, PC1000 drug diversion, and provides California State MediCal funded substance abuse treatment for dually diagnosed individuals experiencing combined issues of substance abuse and mental illness. In addition, SCCC is approved by the Los Angeles Probation Department for Batterer Intervention and provides support programs for victims of violence. SCCC is a referral agency for Los Angeles County Courts and Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for parenting education and family counseling services and intensive case management programs. In 2005, SCCC was awarded funding from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to integrate a substance abuse, HIV and Hepatitis prevention program for high-risk Latino youth - a project continues to produce successful outcomes. At present, Sunrise Community Counseling Center provides mental health and substance abuse services for more than 2500 individuals per year.
SCCC provides weekly chemical dependency outpatient treatment, domestic violence treatment, parenting education, anger management, random urinalysis testing, and individual counseling for youth and adults. Our staff includes a PhD Clinical Psychology, PhD Neuropsychology, MFT Supervisor, MFT Intern, MD Consultant, MA Anthropology, MA Psychology, BSW Social Work, and licensed Substance Abuse Counselors. |
In addition to an intensive outpatient clinic, SCCC also maintained an inpatient residential treatment for women and children from 1995 to 1999, and delivered a four-year demonstration project funded through the Centers for Disease Control and the Los Angeles County Office of AIDS Programs and Policy in domestic violence/batterer intervention, sexual offender intervention and prevention case management for HIV positive individuals in the Los Angeles County Jail and through Los Angeles County Court referrals of individuals who have been arrested for domestic and sexual violence. |
